Cadmium Wind explores the confrontation between covert authority and the uncontrollable forces of nature. Inspired by Goya’s Black Paintings and Francis Bacon, the work captures power disrupted by an elemental breach. The title draws a parallel to astrophysics: stellar winds of heavy metals cast off when a star cannot contain its internal pressure. Here, the "cadmium wind" carries immense material weight. An anonymous council in vivid crimson gathers in a sealed chamber, but an irresistible current breaches their space through a glowing portal, dissolving their illusion of control. Technically, an oil-heavy glaze over dark umber flowed by rotating the canvas, creating craquelure-like streams that mirror atmospheric pressure. Pure cadmium red was applied wet-on-wet to convey movement. Ultimately, the piece meditates on human hubris—no institution can resist the unstoppable currents of time and cosmic fate.
